Five Ways to Add Special Touches to Your Wedding Day

No matter how you spend your wedding day, it’ll be an unforgettable occasion, but I have put together some ideas to add unique and special touches to your marriage. Having officiated many weddings as a Byron Bay and Gold Coast wedding celebrant, I’ve seen it all. Every couple is different and every couple has different shared memories, priorities and love stories – this means that my time as a wedding celebrant has allowed me to be a part of some beautiful moments on some very special days. Here are five of my favourite ways for couples to add special touches to their wedding day.

Bring your fur baby

Your fur babies are like your children, so make them a part of your big day! Whether they’re walking you down the aisle, bringing the rings (if you trust them) or even standing up front with the bridal party, they’re a loving, adorable and fun addition to your wedding day (plus, a memorable photo opportunity!). As a marriage celebrant on the Gold Coast, I’ve been lucky enough to meet a lot of pooches and they are always a highlight. The guests smile, the couples smile, and the pups add some welcome laughter that reduces the stress of the day!

DIY aspects such as your arbour or table decorations

The options for adding to your wedding day with themed items is endless! From your wedding arbour to your table runners, place settings and more, you have the opportunities to add your own personal touch, or to create your own with love and care. Being a Gold Coast wedding celebrant means being a part of weddings on the beach, in the Hinterland, in the mountains and more, so I’ve seen it all. Think about creating an arbour that suits your ceremony spot! You’ll never forget that special setting as you say ‘I do’ and it’ll mean so much more to you, being handmade for your big day.

Tributes to people who couldn’t join you

Whether there are people who couldn’t travel to be with you or who are the dearly departed, think of a way to pay tribute to them during your special day. Whether you save them a seat, share a story during a speech or add one of their suggestions to your day’s proceedings and let your guests know, tributes are a beautiful and special addition to your wedding.

Choose unique, memorable vendors

Having officiated many weddings as a celebrant around the Gold Coast and Byron Bay areas, I’ve been able to see the many unique and exciting wedding vendors popping up in the industry. From creative portable bars to fun ice cream carts and even funky food vendors, you can find vendors that you and your guests will never forget!

Choreograph your reception entry

Time to get some laughs, some smiles and some phone cameras out and recording! Choreograph your bridal party’s entry to the reception and trust me, it won’t just be the guests with a huge smile on their face. Dance your way in, and make sure it’s an absolute performance. I promise this one is a whole lot of fun.

I hope that my five favourite ways to add a special touch to your wedding day have helped to spark some ideas for your day! Don’t forget, it’s all about you and your partner, and creating a day that suits you perfectly. Having fun and celebrating love is more important than anything else so don’t forget to enjoy every second!
